Centuries-old pirate tradition, that has made Omiš a recognizable tourist pearl, is situated in the heart of Dalmatia, between Split and the Makarska Riviera. Evoking memories of the rich pirate history of the XII, XIII and XIV centuries, we reach to the emperors of Omiš, dukes Kacic to whom a fee was paid for a safe passage in this part of the Adriatic. The main pirate base was the Cetina River with its island in front Kaštil Slanice.
